Pear Tree Cottage

A gently renovated 270 year old holiday cottage in Thursford, North Norfolk

cottage_7_med

In the heart of North Norfolk, Pear Tree Cottage is a small self-catering holiday home full of typical Norfolk character, sensitively renovated to retain its original charm.

As an escape from modern life the cottage has intentionally few digital distractions or mod-cons, but it does provide the essentials needed for a simple getaway lifestyle in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by countryside, near the stunning north Norfolk coast.

Due to its age – approaching 300 years – a few indulgences have been incorporated, such as a new hand-made kitchen with a SMEG electric range cooker, a cosy log burner, and underfloor heating in the bathroom. But existing period features such as the typical Norfolk winder staircase, walk-in pantry, vintage butler sink and bread oven have been cherished.

Upstairs there is a double bedroom and a twin room, both off a large open landing, with mattresses either pocket-sprung or multi-layer Hypersoft Foam by Emma. Downstairs the living room opens onto a small front garden – a sun-trap for brunches with extended views across the fields –  while the long garden at the rear is ideal for picnics, games, a quiet read, or just relaxing.

Children over 4/5yrs tend to love the winder stairs but please be aware they are typically steep and not suitable for those with limited mobility. We are pet-friendly and welcome well-behaved dogs, but please note that they are not allowed to be left on their own inside the property.
